One of the preschool teachers gave me half a fig this morning from a tree on campus.
I thanked her and took a bite in appreciation.
I held the fig in my mouth until I reached a waste basket to throw it away. My increasing food allergies 😫 prevent me from exploring new fruits easily.
First week of the 2nd semester, August 29th, 2024.
The students are back and FULL OF ENERGY!! They are all happy to be back with their friends doing fun activities after being with their families all summer (4 weels of summer vacation).
How I envy their natural joy and youthful energy.🥰

So, I hope that my next visit to Itaewon will be my last. I will be more vocal and request more hair in each individual braid so the spacing between each braid doesn't look like mini-bald spots.
The braids were done this way so she could make her next appointment. The Head is flat with too thin braids that mirror a wet dog look.😅🫣🫣
My hair looked "normal" in August last summer after I came back from the states.
I will miss Korea but not these "Vegas gamble" hair appointments. I am over it.
Sometimes I think these African braiders have anger issues when they braid hair. The way they collect and braid the hair seems too angry and too aggressive.

This is what came out of the air conditioner when we tried to clean the rotating part of the dirty air con.
That part is still dirty because the unit needs to be dismantled to be cleaned thoroughly...but...we did the best we could.
Just imagine! We were breathing this into our lungs for the last few months during the hot summer weather! Hopefully this is our last summer in this foreign country. It is not easy to be in a foreign country and there are so many things that expats deal with, apartment hunting, money issues, health issues, safety issues, etc.
We are at a disadvantage and do our best to navigate the best we can in our adopted foreign country.
In Korean public schools, the room air cons are dismantled and cleaned yearly. The cleaning service takes about 2 hours to complete the cleaning process.
At our small apartment building, each resident must clean the air filters ourselves.
But there is no thorough cleaning of the air cons. I spent one hour cleaning the inside of the air con but could NOT reach this part.
The landlord is an @sshole so I refuse to call him about this. There is less than 3 weeks left of this heat wave so I will try to find something to filter the open space where this dust blows through.
I turned off the air con last night and, even with three fans, the heat was overwhelming. I didn't sleep a wink.ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

I have been looking for the $3 dollar deodorant in Daiso for all of Spring and most
of this Summer.
It is no longer being carried in Daiso and the price has increased.
I believe the distributors realized the popularity of the product and changed the
market to be able to increase the price. We found it at double the size and three
imes the price at TrialMart.
50ml was 3,000 won
and now 10ml is 10,000 won
Hey, whatever the market dictates, right?
Business is created to make money and then more money.
Create the need, then increase the price once the need has been established.

We shared lunchee together.
We played the bubble race game together, laughed together and created memories.
His middle school starts again for the second semester next Monday.
So I will not see him until January, right before I leave the country in March.
I will miss this little boy. He is sweet, funny and smart.
I am happy to have been able to be a part of his young life.
I hope he remembers our times together well.

These are the two buses that go straight from Yeosu train station to Black Pebble Beach, as of August 2024.
My honest opinion - the pebbles were huge rocks that made it uncomfortable to even stand up in the ocean. I would not go back there again, no thanks.
In the downtown supermarket in my town, the customers leave their bags in baskets at the front door so they can shop for groceries easier. The CCTV cameras help to create the strong level of security.
I cannot even imagine this being possible in half of the countries in this world.
Theft DOES happen here but there is still a certain level of security that exist.
My Korean friend has been feeding me this summer.
She gives me any extra lunchboxes that are available from the kiddies' lunchee program. Every day they make about 80 lunches for the kindergartens, 1st and 2nd grades.
I am grateful because the cost of living is high in every country now.
Every penny saved helps.
There are several underground shopping malls in Korea.
The underground subway malls are very popular and fun to see.
In this one in Suncheon, there is an upside down world where you can take pictures.
Very interesting.
