Last day of the semester July 2022

Last day of this school semester, July 2022.

The children, teachers and staff are all smiling and happy.

Woooohoooo!! We made it!

There was a teacher trip today that most of the teachers are attending.

I was not made aware of it so I am sitting in a almost silent school right now.

It is actually peaceful.

I used to get upset at getting left out but now I embrace the solitude.

I will be around my own kind soon and these snubs will be forgotten.

This society will always treat foreigners as outsiders.

They want the foreign money but not having to deal with people who are different from themselves.

Good luck with that, Korea.

It is not sustainable long term.

Time to take off that cape

I've been working and sending money home since 2006, by myself. One of my children had the nerve to ask me what I was doing with my money, so I sent him this list. Now, currently my income is less than what I made on the corporate plantation. So this list is the majority of my gross income.

Sometimes you have to stop doing things for people so they appreciate what you used to do for them.

My new focus is trying to find a soft place to land and to take off my Super Woman cape off.

Life is too short to live for other people, especially when they don't appreciate you.

Dependable transportation system

The Korean transportation system is very clean and efficient. The buses and trains are well maintained. It is very rare for the buses to break down. Breakdowns disturb the time tables.

So this morning, I saw a frazzled bus driver leaning into his bus' engine while several impatient passengers looked on. They only had to wait a few minutes for another bus to pick them up.

Strange, I've only seen this three times in all the years I've live here.

A common site in many countries is rare here.

Strange teas

There are so many unusual types of teas in this world. I love the options!

Youngest politicians

The 5th and 6th graders are learning about how the election process works. They are each running for class president. Their enthusiasm is contagious.

New baby bird!! Named "Sky"

Welcome to the new birdie!!

I had to buy a new baby bird to replace the one my neighbor killed while I visited the states.

The woman said ₩60,000 over the phone to my co-teacher. But after I took a new bus route, got lost, had a building attendant call a taxi, had the taxi driver call the pet shop owner for exact directions, she had the nerve to raise the price to ₩80,000. UGH!!

If I had a car and more options, I would've bounced!πŸ˜…πŸ¦ There are not too many bird shops in this area. So she GOT me.πŸ˜…

But I was happy to see an African Grey bird and so many other gorgeous birds. It almost made the stress of getting lost and the increased price worth it.

πŸ˜…Almost!!

Braiding...

I offered to braid a few of my students' hair during movie week.

Gosh, I miss braiding my daughter's little head.
