I got so used to sidewalk memorials for gunshot victims back home, when I saw this, my heart initially skipped a beat...😭

Sashimi on a sweet Thursday afternoon

 

Just enjoyed almost two hours with my senior citizen neighbors. We ate very freshly caught fish. One of the old men grilled fish and one of the grandmothers sliced fresh fish and we ate sashimi, raw fish, dipped in red sauce.

They plucked hot green peppers from their garden. We ate sashimi, grilled fish, potatoes and cherry tomatoes. We drank soju, Heineken beer (from my fridge), and I smiled, nodded and just enjoyed the sweet, peaceful time with my neighbors.

The aircon in my room and next door are being maintenanced today. They have to sprat a chemical into it and even turned off the electricity. I asked my handler to ask the principal to let me "work from home". She asked and he said "noppity nope".

These people are some of the most inflexible people I've ever met in my life.😂 Straight assholes. They either want you to suffer like them OR they want you to suffer so they can gleefully watch and feel superior. 😂

It is not out of "concern" or liability issues. There are no classes and no students for two more weeks. They are just miserable people who want others to be miserable, too. Other people in other Korean jobs have seen and said the same thing.

That is the main thing I've learned from living here. Misery not only loves company, it enjoys the show. The bullying mentality and classism is ingrained deeply in this society's fabric.

Police report filed...sigh

 

So the police report has been filed as of yesterday at 5:30pm. I took my translated statement and they attached it to their paperwork. It will be given to higher~ups to decide whether to pursue the case and search through local CCTVs.

As an immigrant in this country, I was reluctant to submit the document but felt compelled to follow through. Being in someone else's country, I choose not to engage but simply observe interactions and situations.

But this was wrong, all day and all night. If you choose not to take care of a pet then bring it to a shelter. Don't abandon it in a park, miles from home, with just a small cup of water.

Fingers crossed this doesn't come back to bite me in the ass.

Also, side note, just like the KDramas, half the young police officers looked Hollywood ready.😂

UPDATE - The cops decided NOT to follow up stating there were no CCTV footage in that area. I believe the couple selected that area for that specific reason. Oh well, I tried.  Sorry, little doggy.

My first (and only) Korean police report

 

Soooooo..this happened and I made a decision to file a police report. Wish me luck, y'all. 

I left the Trial Mart supermarket on Sunday, August 8th at 9:10 a.m. I rode my bike and rested on a bench by the river.
When I arrived by the river, a white SUV was parked at the end of a gravel road next to a small bridge in the park. The white SUV left the passenger's door wide open. Several vehicles had to drive around the SUV. There was a Korean man in his mid-30s in the driver's seat of the SUV. A Korean woman tried to pull the dog out of the car with a small cup of water. I was sitting on the bench, eating, and looking at the car. Two other middle-aged Korean women were watching the woman and the dog. A Korean woman started taking pictures.

The Korean woman kept trying to pull the dog out of the car, but the dog jumped back into the car. Finally, she was able to lure the dog near a small water cup near the exercise equipment. Then she quickly jumped into the car and ran away while the little dog chased her. She hurriedly closed the passenger's door and the car began to run away. While the dog kept chasing, the car climbed a small hill and left the river park. All this happened between 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Two Korean women walked toward the entrance and watched the incident. We were all surprised that the car intentionally abandoned a small dog. CCTV will show a small brown dog chasing a white SUV in the park.

I don't want my name involved in this case. I just want the police to look at the CCTV and find the couple who did this. There is a risk of accidents when dumping dogs. Instead, the car can turn and miss the dog and hurt the child.

나는 8월 8일 일요일 오전 9시 10분에 트라이얼 마트 슈퍼마켓을 떠났습니다. 나는 자전거를 타고 강가에 있는 벤치에 앉아서 쉬었습니다.

강가에 도착했을 때 공원 내 작은 다리 옆 자갈길 끝에 흰색 SUV가 주차되어 있었습니다. 흰색 SUV가 조수석 도어를 활짝 열어두었습니다.  여러 대의 차량이 SUV 주변을 운전해야 했습니다. SUV 운전석에는 30대 중반의 한국인 남성이 타고 있었습니다. 한 한국 여성이 작은 물컵으로 개를 차에서 끌어내려 했습니다. 벤치에 앉아서 밥을 먹고 차를 보고 있었어요. 다른 두 명의 한국 중년 여성들이 그 여자와 개를 지켜보고 있었습니다. 한 한국 여성이 사진을 찍기 시작했습니다.

한국 여자는 계속 차에서 개를 끌어내려 했지만 개는 다시 차에 뛰어올랐습니다. 마침내, 그녀는 운동기구 근처의 작은 물컵 근처에서 개를 유인할 수 있었습니다. 그리고 그녀는 재빨리 차에 뛰어올라 작은 개가 쫓아오는 동안 도망쳤습니다. 그녀는 서둘러 조수석 문을 닫았고 차는 달아나기 시작했습니다. 개가 계속 쫓는 동안 차는 작은 언덕을 올라 강 공원을 떠났습니다. 이 모든 일이 오전 9시 15분에서 9시 30분 사이에 일어났습니다. 두 명의 한국 여성이 입구 쪽으로 걸어가 사건을 지켜보았습니다. 우리는 그 차가 의도적으로 작은 개를 버렸다는 사실에 모두 놀랐습니다. CCTV는 공원에서 갈색의 작은 개가 흰색 SUV를 쫓는 모습을 보여줄 것입니다.

제 이름이 이 사건에 연루되지 않았으면 합니다. 그냥 경찰이 CCTV 영상을 보고 이런 짓을 한 커플을 찾아내면 좋겠어요. 개를 유기할 때 사고로 인해 생기는 위험이 있습니다. 대신 차가 방향을 틀어 개를 놓쳐 아이를 다치게 할 수 있습니다.
